Nasturtiums all year round
From nasturtiums in my Son’s garden in Wales, to the terrace here where they grow all year round, but struggle with the heat, I love the sharp contrast of red and yellow, with a hint of orange.
Over the last few months I’ve completed a series of five paintings inspired by the cornfields I drive by when going shopping. Rolling open fields dotted with evergreen trees.
Taking the hot reds and yellows from the nasturtiums, and scattering the picture with poppies, each painting is different, but based on the same landscape. A good friend questioned the colour choice – why yellow fields? Personally, I think the red trees are less conventional.
I’m moving onto using blues in my next paintings …… I think!
